Driving sustainable change at Beaulieu International Group

Corporate

Earlier this month, Voka visited our Experience Centre in Wielsbeke to discuss one of today’s most pressing topics: sustainable business.

Since 2021, we’ve been reshaping our business with a clear sustainability strategy: one that reflects the spirit of B.I.G., defines our priorities, and turns ambition into action. We translated that vision into Route 2030, a company-wide roadmap with five strategic routes that guide us toward a more sustainable future.

The Voka Sustainable Business Charter enabled us to align our actions with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (DSG’s).

As Clara Carelli, our Group Sustainability Director, puts it: “It is better to achieve 90% of a very ambitious plan than 100% of a plan that is not worth pursuing.” Together with our QMS Lead and strong sustainability ambassador Lieven Flamée, she shared with Voka how Beaulieu transforms theory into practice.

Everyone is a Reshaper

Sustainability is not a top-down initiative; it’s a collective effort. We believe our goals can only be achieved when everyone is involved. That’s why Route 2030 is embedded across all levels of the company, from the boardroom to the production floor.

Through our campaign “Everyone is a Reshaper”, we invite every employee to actively contribute to our sustainability ambitions. In each division, Reshapers inspire and motivate their colleagues, creating a ripple effect of positive change. This bottom-up approach ensures sustainability is literally woven into our daily operations.

Educate, evaluate, innovate

True transformation requires collaboration across the entire value chain. That’s why we prioritize education, cooperation, and transparency. Not only internally, but also with clients, designers, and suppliers.

Suppliers play a key role in our journey. We assess them using our Sustainable Supplier Score System, which evaluates strategy, greenhouse gas emissions reduction commitments, circularity, and governance. Rather than excluding those with lower scores, we work with them to identify growth opportunities and improve over time.

Every year, we host our Sustainability Forum, bringing together clients, suppliers, and partners to exchange ideas and strengthen their own sustainability strategies. What started as a small gathering has grown into a must-attend event that people mark in their calendars months in advance.

Sustainable Living, Together - Beaulieu International Group

Innovating for impact

Our commitment goes beyond dialogue: we innovate. For example, Twilight, our cushion vinyl rolls with a 40% lower carbon footprint compared to our conventional heterogeneous CV flooring for residential applications. With our Sustainable Yarns Program, we aim to educate on existing solutions, reshape products, and foster partnerships to facilitate market collaboration on common challenges.

Across our Polymers division, we’ve also pushed boundaries. Next to offering low-carbon Polypropylene, we also want to stimulate the use of bio-attributed materials and recycled Polypropylene. To this end, we developed a range of circular PP solutions. Each solution enables our customers to become an ambassador of a circular economy, by introducing product ranges with a lower impact on the environment, made from raw materials with a reduced carbon footprint or even fully circular (bio-attributed or chemically recycled).

Transparency Matters

At Beaulieu, transparency is non-negotiable. We openly share our progress and challenges, ensuring Route 2030 remains a living, actionable plan. Regular reporting allows us to monitor, adjust, and stay accountable.
